Philcopy Cares - Caring for the Children of Cottolengo Filipino
After its successful tree-planting/Save Mother Earth project in 2016, this year, Philcopy Cares came up with the idea of giving joy to people and making them feel loved. With that in mind, Philcopy Cares conducted a survey to its members and chose the children of Cottolengo Filipino Inc. – Bahay Para sa may Kapansanan in Rodriguez Rizal. The said beneficiary/charity was suggested by Mr. Eli Quidilla, Manager, Cagayan De Oro.
Cottolengo Filipino is a private non-stock, non-profit religious and non-government organization licensed and accredited by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) which provides residential care, medical and rehabilitation services, group works, and educational services to deprived, abandoned, and orphaned children (male) with special needs ranging from 0-30 years old. Some of them have Autism, Mental Retardation, Down Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy.
The activity was held last May 27, 2017. In this event, Philcopy Cares donated medical, kitchen, and sanitary supplies to Cottolengo Filipino. In addition to that, Philcopy Cares provided transport that brought the children of Cottolengo Filipino out to Avilon Zoo to have a special experience they don’t usually have. After the tour, Philcopy Cares and the children gathered back to Cottolengo Filipino to eat lunch. We also had parlor games, gift-giving with Jollibee mascot and other performances from the crew of Jollibee. It was indeed a blessed, fun-filled day.
We can say by the smiles on the children’s faces that the event was indeed a huge success. It is very fulfilling to know that the children of Cottolengo Filipino felt the love and happiness that we shared for them. For Philcopy Cares officers, members, volunteers and in cooperation with Jollibee Foundation, their efforts were all worth it.
Warmest gratitude to the management, officers and employees for their generosity in sharing their blessings; to the Jollibee Foundation for the meals they provided for the orphans; and to all employee-volunteers who gave their precious time in helping Philcopy Cares in making this meaningful activity memorable to US and the Cottolengo Filipino orphans.
